About

A small outfit out of Antigua.

Terrava is a small team of mountain guides based in Antigua, Guatemala. We run guided hikes on Acatenango, Fuego and Pacaya — nothing else, on purpose. A few routes done well beats a catalogue of everything.

Every trip is a private departure. You hike with the people you booked with and a guide who has walked the route hundreds of times, in every kind of weather. Groups stay small, the pace follows the group, and we turn around when the mountain says so.

We’re local. The guides grew up around these volcanoes — the trails, the weather, the safe camps and the good viewpoints aren’t research for us, they’re home. That’s the whole pitch: fewer people, people who know the ground, and straight answers before you pay.

How we run a trip

Safety first

Every group is led by a certified guide trained in wilderness first aid, carrying a kit and a plan for altitude and weather.

Private groups

No mixed public departures. The trip is yours, and the pace is set by the people in it.

Honest calls

If conditions aren’t safe we reschedule or refund. Cloud at the summit is normal; unsafe wind, lightning or volcanic activity is not.

Clear pricing

Price per person, what’s included, and the cancellation policy — all in writing before any payment.
